SEBASTIAN

As far back as I can remember, I always dreamed of becoming a writer. I would pore over books, devouring tomes of knowledge, as if my life depended on it - and it did. Reading and writing stories were the only way I was able to cope with living in a world that did not understand me, a world which likewise I had so much difficulty understanding.

Then, when I was 14 years old, I was diagnosed with Bipolar II Disorder.

For decades, my pen became silent - my fingers would only type in short sentences and only when communicating with others through a computer screen. I was afraid to have my voice be heard - I was lost.

Nothing in life is happenstance - everything has a specific purpose, whether we realize it or not.

Events transpired that would lead me here, to share my story with all of you, to share the joy I felt when I finally overcame the shame of living with mental health issues: I found acceptance. I finally learned to live a healthy life - a life with no stigmas.
