When I'm writing, I feel at peace. To be honest, it's one of the few things I can actually motivate myself to do when my depression flares up, when my anxiety is at its worst, when the metaphorical Black Dog is snapping at my ankles and leaping at my throat.

Having mental illness does not define me. Nor does it have to define you either. You are strong, resilient, capable and worthy.
There is always something relatable in a story, whether that is to the individual or the overall human experience. Stories, art, show us that we’re not alone.
Now, approximately two years after having gone through this major depressive episode, I continue to maintain a lifestyle that will support staying mentally fit.
