For so long, I felt trapped, frightful and even paralyzed. I did not know it at the time though, that I had severe depression, anxiety and was agoraphobic. I was not aware of any support available in the community. I felt completely alone in this seemingly terrifying world.

Thankfully, after seeking adequate support, such as talk therapy and suitable medications, and having two hospital admissions, I am now well on my way to recovery. Having the help of family, friends, my pet cat and my professional network of supports is absolutely critical. I urge others to reach out and ask for help.

Having mental illness does not define me. Nor does it have to define you either. You are strong, resilient, capable and worthy. You are okay. The journey can be long and hard, however, it is worth it. I am worth it and so are you.
