KRISTIE

My personal journey, during the past 5 years, has been dominated by drug addiction, hospitalisation, homelessness, borderline personality disorder, self-harm, suicide, overdose, death, grief and emotional trauma. However; peppered into the crisis I call "life" I still have much to be happy and grateful for. I have healed and empowered my relationships with my immediate family members, welcomed into the world my first grandson and Emily the English bulldog, raised money for several recovery and mental health charities, and have settled into my very 1st bachelorette pad!

I am thankful for all the support and positivity that each and everyone of you, whom read my blog, comment on my posts and have offered me support and encouragement. Without them beside me as I continue to "JOURNEY THROUGH MADNESS" I'm not sure I'd have made such progress.

The objective of my blog My Journey Through Madness is to educate, empower and encourage anyone affected by mental health difficulties, addiction, suicide and emotional trauma/abuse. I'd hoped to raise awareness of such issues, help to end stigma and promote "wellness and recovery," but in total honesty originally the page was my personal way of dealing with my own problems. I found it to be a way for me to process my own challenges, rationalise thoughts and I still find it to be therapeutic. I am currently in Recovery, actively receiving specialised treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder and Suicide Loss and am prescribed psychiatric medication.
