I have a history of suicide in my family, and I lost a good friend and very talented musician in high school.

Liz Born is a Chicago-based painter and printmaker. Her work addresses themes like folly and futility with a sweet, lighthearted twist, through creatures both real and imagined. She is particularly fond of reduction woodcuts--prints that are made by progressively carving one block and printing it at various stages to create works with multiple colors. Recently graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, she currently prints at Spudnik Press in Ukrainian Village.
