Once certified, NoStigmas will be able to offer the 12-hour MHFA course at low/no-cost in the Chicago-area to a variety of audiences who have ongoing contact with high-risk individuals, including: school personnel and educators, campus advocates & other public service professionals.  These First Aiders will learn a 5-step action plan encompassing the skills, resources and knowledge to help an individual in crisis connect with appropriate professional, peer, social, and self-help care. That means more people helped and more lives saved.  Plus, they may be able to receive continuing education credits for their MHFA training!

With the increasing costs of healthcare and ever-present issues like bullying and stigmatization, the need for preventative mental health care is imperative.  MHFA increases opportunities for early detection and proper treatment on an individual basis.  Help us put more mental health advocates where it counts, out on the front lines helping those who need it most - while there is still time.

Please support our efforts with a donation today.

Here’s what Jacob will learn during the 5 day course:

  1. to teach the Mental Health First Aid program, including the 5-step action plan, evidence-supported treatment and self-help strategies, and prevalence data;

  2. to present the program with fidelity to the tested core model;

  3. to apply the program to a range of adult learning styles; and

  4. to tailor presentations to diverse audiences and learning environments
